Archos inks global content deal with Paramount Digital

Businessofcinema.com Team

Mumbai: Archos has inked a global relationship with Paramount Digital Entertainment that brings hundreds of Paramount movies to Archos Portable Media Players (PMPs), allowing consumers to watch favorite movies such as Cloverfield, Shooter and Beowulf on the go or in the living room.

Covering North America and major countries in Europe, the Paramount library will be both preloaded onto the ARCHOS TV+ WiFi Digital Video Recorder (DVR) for one-click viewing on the TV, and available directly from ARCHOS portable devices or online at www.archos.com.

Through the relationship, many Paramount Pictures titles will be preloaded onto the Archos TV+ WiFi DVR for purchase and immediate playback -- without downloading.

Archos also announced that it is expanding its content store to include Paramount movies. Currently comprising the Archos Content Portal, the store offers thousands of movies and TV shows for Archos portable devices -- downloaded wirelessly to the players or first to a PC or Mac. The expanded content store will launch this spring and will include more movies, TV shows, music, games and more. Specific content partners and store details will be unveiled this spring.

" Archos is building an extensive global content store and our agreement with Paramount Digital Entertainment is a great step in giving our customers the latest entertainment content wherever they go," said ARCHOS founder and CEO Henri Crohas. "Accessing favorite movies, TV shows or games is an important element in the anywhere entertainment lifestyle consumers have adopted."

"Archos is creating advanced solutions including smart pre-loading features that support our strategy to develop alternative digital distribution channels," states Paramount Digital Entertainment president Thomas Lesinski. "Archos has the technical strength, retail credibility and robust consumer ecosystem to deliver our content in the most flexible way digital consumers want it."
